Fidget spinners, a Spider-Man drone, and a plastic Wonder Woman battle-action sword are among the most dangerous toys of 2017, according to World Against Toys Causing Harm (WATCH), who unveiled the list early last month. As more consumers do their holiday shopping, it’s important that you watch out for the following dangerous toys:
- Hallmark "Itty Bittys" Baby Stacking Toy: Made of four rattling rings, this children’s toy made it into consumer hands without age recommendation or warnings. Despite it being recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission for being a choking hazard, it is still available for purchase.
- Pull Along Poly: This pull toy made the list thanks to its 19-inch long cord, which is much longer than the 12-inch standard. Anything longer than standard is considered a strangulation hazard.
- Wonder Woman Battle-Action Sword: According to the packaging, Mattel encouraged children to “fight alongside men in a war to end all wars,” plus the plastic blade has the potential to cause facial injuries.
- Fidget Spinners: Despite warnings that they are not intended to be used as a toy, many retailers sold these toys to people of all ages, without warnings, even though they can result in a child choking on the small parts.
- Spider-Man Spider-Drone Official Movie Edition: Despite its nearly $100 price tag, the popular drone has rotating rotor blades that are a major concern for injury, especially since it appeals to younger children.
Rounding out the other half of the list is the Nerd Zombie Strike Deadbolt Crossbow, Slackers Slackline Classic Series Kit, Oval Xylophone, Jetts Heel Wheels, and Brianna Babydoll.
